Hi, I'm Soorya. My journey into psychology began with a deep curiosity about people and an ongoing desire to understand emotional experiences more closely. Even when choosing this path felt uncertain or was met with hesitation from those around me, I felt compelled to stay with it. Over time, what began as curiosity grew into a steady commitment to work that could hold complexity, vulnerability, and the realities of human experience with care.
In my early professional years, I worked in hospital and clinical settings, as well as community-based spaces, where I was exposed to a wide spectrum of psychological distress across different life stages. This grounding in clinical work shaped my ability to sit with intensity, uncertainty, and vulnerability, and gave me the confidence to work with clients presenting with both emotional and clinical concerns, including experiences of trauma, without needing to rush or reduce their experiences to labels. These settings taught me the importance of pacing, safety, and collaboration in therapy, especially when clients are navigating overwhelm or distress.
As my practice continued to evolve, Transactional Analysis became a meaningful turning point in my therapeutic journey. It offered a deeper and more nuanced language for understanding inner patterns, relationships, and emotional processes, enriching the way I work with clients today. My approach blends thoughtful structure with openness, allowing therapy to unfold at a pace that feels right for each person. I see therapy as a shared and reflective process, one that honours emotional truth, deepens insight, and supports clients in making sense of their stories in ways that feel grounded, compassionate, and human.
3300+ hours of work in therapy
I didn't stop learning after my masters, I have been continuously investing in practical case-based training, client work, and my own personal therapy.
We show therapy sessions so you can better understand a therapist's real-world experience.
Two therapists may both have five years in practice, yet one might have completed 500 sessions while another has completed 3,000. This depends on whether they practice part-time or full-time and how consistently they see clients. Session counts make that difference visible.
Just as you would not trust a surgeon who has only read about the human body but never operated, therapy cannot be mastered through textbooks alone. While many master's programs in India are heavily theory-driven, practical training develops the real skill of therapy - learning how to ask the right question, when to hold silence, when to challenge, and how to respond in complex emotional moments.
Therapists are human, and they carry their own histories. When a client's experiences resemble their own, old patterns can get activated.
For example, if a therapist grew up with a highly critical parent and a client shares a similar experience, that old pattern can get activated. They may unconsciously over-identify, rescue, or react instead of staying objective. Personal therapy helps therapists recognise their own triggers and patterns so they can respond thoughtfully and continue to hold a non-judgemental space. Nobody is born non judgemental, it takes a lot of personal work to get there.

What sessions with me feel like
My sessions are shaped by what you need in the moment, I don't follow a fixed script. Sometimes that means exploring patterns in how you think and relate, sometimes it's sitting with something difficult at a slower pace, and sometimes it's simply reflective conversation. I move between these fluidly, depending on what feels most useful for you.
While the process is open, I also bring in gentle structure so you don't feel lost. I often try to close sessions with something you can carry with you, a thought, a shift, or a small clarity, so the work feels continuous rather than fragmented. Over time, we'll find a rhythm that feels both safe and honest.

I enjoy reading and painting, both help me slow down and reflect. I find comfort in nature, love travelling to stay curious, and value time with friends for balance and warmth. Being part of community spaces gives me a strong sense of connection, and these experiences help me show up to my work with presence and authenticity.

What clients say
"I started working with Soorya at one of the lowest points of my life, and in these 7 months, I have been able to come to terms with my anxiety and learn how to manage it mentally, emotionally and physically. Be it my goals or relationships with people, Soorya's approach has been extremely comprehensive. I particularly appreciate how she's guided me towards figuring it out myself."
Female, 24, UK
"Soorya has been an amazing, extremely helpful therapist. She creates an empathetic, validating space. I've come away from sessions with a lot of insight and hope."
Female, 24, Hyderabad, Finance
"Soorya has helped me a lot. The most important thing about her sessions is that she is a keen listener. And even though we are not in the same space and our sessions are online, it feels very personal and I can be my vulnerable self in front of her. She could gauge where the problem lies and help me accordingly. Also she is very professional with respect to her time and dedication and yet it feels like you are coming to a friend for help which works for me. I am glad I chose her for help."

Frequently Asked Questions
What approaches do you work with?
I primarily work with Transactional Analysis, along with trauma-informed psychotherapy and a relational approach, helping clients understand emotional patterns, relationships, and inner experiences with depth and clarity.
What languages do you offer sessions in?
I offer sessions in English, Hindi, and Malayalam. I also understand Tamil.
What type of people may not be the right fit for you?
I may not be the right fit if you are primarily seeking support for autism or psychosis, as these concerns often require more specialised or multidisciplinary care.
Do you have experience working with clients outside India? Which countries?
Yes. I have worked with clients across multiple countries including the UK, USA, Canada, Germany, Ireland, through online therapy, including the UK and other international locations.
Are your sessions more structured or exploratory?
My sessions are fluid and exploratory, with gentle structure to provide clarity, safety, and continuity so you don’t feel lost in the process.
Will I get exercises or reflection work between sessions?
Sometimes. I may offer a takeaway, tool, or reflection to sit with between sessions, but there is no rigid homework, and everything is tailored to what feels useful and supportive for you.
What if I disagree with you?
I genuinely welcome disagreement in our work together. If something I say doesn't sit right with you, I encourage you to share it openly. Therapy is a collaborative space, and your voice matters deeply here. Often, moments of disagreement lead to powerful insights, about patterns, boundaries, needs, or past experiences. Exploring these moments together can become an important part of your therapeutic growth and help us build a more honest, trusting relationship.
What if it doesn't feel like it's working after a few sessions?
Let's talk about it openly. Therapy is a collaborative process, and it's important that you feel safe sharing if something doesn't feel right. Sometimes, naming what isn't working can lead to meaningful shifts in the work itself. You are always free to pause, take a break, or explore a different therapist if that feels better for you. We can have that conversation together first, or you can also reach out to the Mindbun team for support in finding a better fit. Your comfort and growth matter more than pushing through something silently.
