Aakriti Todi

Psychotherapist

  • Referred by a therapist

Hi, I'm Aakriti! My work as a therapist has evolved over many years of sitting closely with people and their inner worlds. What continues to draw me to this work is a fascination with the quiet, often unseen ways we think, feel, and respond, patterns that become so familiar we hardly notice them. In therapy, I invite clients to explore their thoughts, images, sensations, and emotions as they speak about what matters to them, gently uncovering these patterns together.

I believe therapy is not just about understanding problems, but about reconnecting with parts of ourselves that may have been ignored, suppressed, or disconnected in order to cope. Many of the people I work with struggle with anxiety, overthinking, low mood, relationship challenges, trauma, body image concerns, or periods of emotional stuckness. My focus is on helping clients build the capacity to feel their feelings more fully, rather than staying cut off from them, allowing emotional life to become something that can be held, understood, and worked with.

My style is warm, affirming, and relational, while also being curious and gently challenging. I value the therapeutic relationship deeply and see it as central to change. Therapy with me is a collaborative process, one where reflection, honesty, and emotional safety come together to support growth. Over time, clients often find greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and a more compassionate relationship with themselves. For me, therapy is about creating a space where real change can emerge through understanding, presence, and connection.

820+ hours of work in therapy

I didn't stop learning after my masters, I have been continuously investing in practical case-based training, client work, and my own personal therapy.

We show therapy sessions so you can better understand a therapist's real-world experience.

Two therapists may both have five years in practice, yet one might have completed 500 sessions while another has completed 3,000. This depends on whether they practice part-time or full-time and how consistently they see clients. Session counts make that difference visible.

Just as you would not trust a surgeon who has only read about the human body but never operated, therapy cannot be mastered through textbooks alone. While many master's programs in India are heavily theory-driven, practical training develops the real skill of therapy - learning how to ask the right question, when to hold silence, when to challenge, and how to respond in complex emotional moments.

Therapists are human, and they carry their own histories. When a client's experiences resemble their own, old patterns can get activated.

For example, if a therapist grew up with a highly critical parent and a client shares a similar experience, that old pattern can get activated. They may unconsciously over-identify, rescue, or react instead of staying objective. Personal therapy helps therapists recognise their own triggers and patterns so they can respond thoughtfully and continue to hold a non-judgemental space. Nobody is born non judgemental, it takes a lot of personal work to get there.

✨ Aakriti brings together advanced training in TA from the global accrediting body for TA along with additional extensive training in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming from recognised institutes.

I’ve worked with clients across life stages, from professionals navigating stress, anxiety, and work life challenges, to individuals processing breakups, trauma, self-image concerns, and periods of emotional overwhelm.

You are in the right place if you are not primarily seeking support for suicidal ideations, neurodevelopmental disorders, addiction or psychosis.

Approaches I Use

  • Transactional Analysis (TA)
  • Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP)
  • Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT)

✨ Aakriti brings together a thoughtful mix of insight-oriented, emotional, and practical ways of working, allowing her to help clients understand their patterns, process emotions more deeply, and develop clearer, healthier responses. This combination makes sessions both reflective and action-oriented that feels emotionally grounded and realistically applicable.

What sessions with me feel like

My sessions invite you to slow down and notice what is happening within you: your thoughts, emotions, images, and bodily sensations, as we talk about the parts of your life that feel significant. Often, these ways of thinking or responding are so familiar that they go unnoticed, and therapy becomes a space where we gently bring them into awareness together. I work by being honest and gently challenging when it feels supportive. Sessions are collaborative rather than directive; I don’t rush to give answers or solutions. Instead, I encourage reflection, emotional contact, and self-observation, helping you build the capacity to feel your feelings fully rather than staying disconnected from them.

Over time, this process supports deeper insight into patterns, relationships, and inner responses. Therapy with me is less about quick fixes and more about meaningful understanding, creating space for growth, self-awareness, and lasting change within a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship.

Outside therapy

I’m drawn to creative spaces, music, reading, and cooking are some of the ways I unwind and stay connected to myself. I enjoy moments that allow for expression, curiosity, and quiet reflection, and these creative pauses help me bring warmth, openness, and presence into my work as a therapist.

Frequently Asked Questions

What approaches do you work with?

I primarily work with Transactional Analysis (TA), integrating Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

What languages do you offer sessions in?

I offer sessions in English and Hindi.

What type of people may not be the right fit for you?

I may not be the right fit if you are primarily seeking support for suicidal ideation, neurodivergence, addiction, or psychosis.

Do you have experience working with clients outside India? Which countries?

Yes. I have worked with clients across multiple countries through online therapy, including clients from Canada.

Are your sessions more structured or exploratory?

My sessions are primarily exploratory and reflective. While we may set goals, the work focuses on emotional awareness and relational patterns rather than rigid structure.

Will I get exercises or reflection work between sessions?

I may suggest reflective practices when helpful, but there is no fixed or mandatory homework between sessions.

What if I disagree with you?

I genuinely welcome disagreement in our work together. If something I say doesn't sit right with you, I encourage you to share it openly. Therapy is a collaborative space, and your voice matters deeply here. Often, moments of disagreement lead to powerful insights, about patterns, boundaries, needs, or past experiences. Exploring these moments together can become an important part of your therapeutic growth and help us build a more honest, trusting relationship.

What if it doesn't feel like it's working after a few sessions?

Let's talk about it openly. Therapy is a collaborative process, and it's important that you feel safe sharing if something doesn't feel right. Sometimes, naming what isn't working can lead to meaningful shifts in the work itself. You are always free to pause, take a break, or explore a different therapist if that feels better for you. We can have that conversation together first, or you can also reach out to the Mindbun team for support in finding a better fit. Your comfort and growth matter more than pushing through something silently.
