Hi, I'm Ananya! My journey into psychology began with a deep interest in people and the social worlds they inhabit. Early on, I found myself drawn to questions of identity, power, gender, and how lived experiences, especially those shaped by marginalisation, loss, or silence, leave lasting emotional imprints. Psychology offered me a language to understand not just individual distress, but the wider contexts that shape how we suffer, cope, and survive.

As a therapist, I see therapy as a space to slow down and stay with what’s difficult, rather than immediately trying to resolve or fix it. My work is informed by an understanding that healing is rarely linear, and that each person’s process of becoming is deeply personal. I’m interested in how lived experiences like grief, trauma, identity, relationships, power, and context shape how we relate to ourselves and others.

I work with an intersectional and relational lens, paying close attention to safety, consent, and choice. I see the therapeutic relationship itself as meaningful, a place where patterns can be noticed, voices reclaimed, and new ways of relating gently tried out. Rather than offering answers, I focus on creating space for exploration, reflection, and collaboration, trusting that insight and agency emerge when people feel held, respected, and seen. For me, therapy is not about arriving at a single outcome, but about opening up possibilities, for resilience, for self-understanding, and for living with greater intention and care.

8060+ hours of work in therapy

I didn't stop learning after my masters, I have been continuously investing in practical case-based training, client work, and my own personal therapy.

We show therapy sessions so you can better understand a therapist's real-world experience.

Two therapists may both have five years in practice, yet one might have completed 500 sessions while another has completed 3,000. This depends on whether they practice part-time or full-time and how consistently they see clients. Session counts make that difference visible.

Just as you would not trust a surgeon who has only read about the human body but never operated, therapy cannot be mastered through textbooks alone. While many master's programs in India are heavily theory-driven, practical training develops the real skill of therapy - learning how to ask the right question, when to hold silence, when to challenge, and how to respond in complex emotional moments.

Therapists are human, and they carry their own histories. When a client's experiences resemble their own, old patterns can get activated.

For example, if a therapist grew up with a highly critical parent and a client shares a similar experience, that old pattern can get activated. They may unconsciously over-identify, rescue, or react instead of staying objective. Personal therapy helps therapists recognise their own triggers and patterns so they can respond thoughtfully and continue to hold a non-judgemental space. Nobody is born non judgemental, it takes a lot of personal work to get there.

I’ve worked with clients ranging from young adults navigating identity, relationships, and transitions, to individuals engaging with grief, trauma, emotional overwhelm, and questions shaped by social and relational contexts.

You are in the right place if you are not primarily seeking support for autism or psychosis.

Approaches I Use

  • Narrative Therapy
  • Trauma-Focused Psychotherapy
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

✨ Ananya helps you make sense of your own story, not by rewriting it, but by looking at it more honestly and finding the parts of yourself that may have gone unheard. Her approach is thoughtful and unhurried, creating space for voice, meaning, and choice to slowly emerge.

What sessions with me feel like

My sessions are less about fixing a direction and more about arriving. You don't need to come in with a clear problem or a polished version of what's wrong. We begin with what's present for you right now, and go from there.

I don't follow a rigid structure or push toward predefined outcomes. Goals tend to emerge over time, and when they do, we hold them loosely. I check in regularly about what feels useful and what needs more or less space, so the work stays collaborative rather than something that happens to you.

At times, we may sit with discomfort or grief; at other times, we may notice moments of strength, resistance, or clarity. I pay close attention to what shows up between us in the room, because it often reflects what's happening outside it too. Therapy with me is not about rushing toward answers, but about creating enough safety and openness for meaning, voice, and choice to slowly take shape.

Outside therapy

I move at a slower pace, usually with a book in hand, crayons and paints nearby, or on small adventures with my dog where I collect stones and twigs like tiny treasures. I love creativity in all its forms, from quirky sweaters to doodles of everyday things, and I’m unapologetically fond of animals and their gentle magic. On quieter days, you’ll likely find me burrito-wrapped on my couch, soaking in the softer side of life that keeps me grounded and curious.

Frequently Asked Questions

What approaches do you work with?

I primarily work with Narrative Therapy, Trauma-Focused Psychotherapy, Transactional Analysis (TA), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). These approaches help clients explore their life stories, understand patterns shaped by past experiences, and gradually create new possibilities for the present.

What languages do you offer sessions in?

I offer sessions in English and Assamese. I also understand Nepali and Nagamese.

What type of people may not be the right fit for you?

I may not be the right fit if you are primarily seeking support for autism or psychosis, as these concerns often require more specialised care.

Do you have experience working with clients outside India? Which countries?

Yes. I have worked with clients internationally through online therapy, including individuals from the USA, Canada, Australia, Sweden and India.

Are your sessions more structured or exploratory?

My sessions are largely exploratory and reflective. Rather than following a rigid structure, I focus on creating a collaborative space where your experiences, emotions, and insights can unfold at a pace that feels safe and meaningful.

Will I get exercises or reflection work between sessions?

I may suggest reflections or small practices between sessions if they feel supportive, but there is no fixed homework.

What if I disagree with you?

I genuinely welcome disagreement in our work together. If something I say doesn't sit right with you, I encourage you to share it openly. Therapy is a collaborative space, and your voice matters deeply here. Often, moments of disagreement lead to powerful insights, about patterns, boundaries, needs, or past experiences. Exploring these moments together can become an important part of your therapeutic growth and help us build a more honest, trusting relationship.

What if it doesn't feel like it's working after a few sessions?

Let's talk about it openly. Therapy is a collaborative process, and it's important that you feel safe sharing if something doesn't feel right. Sometimes, naming what isn't working can lead to meaningful shifts in the work itself. You are always free to pause, take a break, or explore a different therapist if that feels better for you. We can have that conversation together first, or you can also reach out to the Mindbun team for support in finding a better fit. Your comfort and growth matter more than pushing through something silently.
